Lalish temple is a site of worship for people of the Yazidi faith. It is the pilgrimage place for Yazadis and is set in a beautiful valley. It is a good day trip from Dohuk.

The Hamilton Road
The Hamilton Road is a spectacular winding mountain road from Erbil into Iran.
A daily bus departs from Erbil at 7am to Orumiye in Iran. It costs $30USD per person. Expect a 7-8 hour journey with 1-2 hours for border crossing. A prearranged Iranian visa is required to cross the border. The bus company is called Federal Company (0750 4475222 or firstname.lastname@example.org)

Khanzad Castle is on the Erbil-Shaqlawa road about 15km north of Erbil. It dates back to Soran Principality period.
Rabban Beya Monastery
The Rabban (Monk) Beya Monastery dates back to the fourth century AD. Located over a valley with the same name, 30 minutes walk from the public road overlooks Shaqlawa Resort and sub-district. It used to be a refuge for a group of monks.
