Amadiya

Amadiya (Amediyah, Amadia, Amedi, al-Amadiyah), is a small town perched on a mountain north of Dohuk. It is a magical place with stunning views and is well worth a visit. There is nowhere to stay there but it works well as a day trip from Dohuk. A seat in a shared taxi from Dohuk should cost 7000 dinar.

You can read about a visit to Amadiya in the Experiences section.

Halabja

Halabja (Helebce), is located in the East of Iraqi Kurdistan, close to the Iranian border. On March 16 1988 it was the sight of a chemical weapons attack which has subsquently been recognized as genocide. Today there is a monument there commemorating the dead.

You can read about a visit to Halabja in the Experiences section.
